Born Tomara Conrad, in Minnesota, August 11, 1995, of Irish-American decent, is blessed with vocal talents as well as dance moves with the grace of a lioness. To further enhance her musical talents, she loves playing trumpet and trombone at her school and consults with a vocal coach during her spare time. Her musical influences are Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, Peggy Lee, Janis Joplin, and the great Etta James just to name a few. She is 5 feet 8 inches tall, naturally blonde, on a 120 pound frame. The Sun has risen above the horizon shining the spotlight on Tomara at a young age. She began singing at age 13, 2009 in Wyoming at a coffee-bar-grill. The owner wanted to reserve what he thought was the best for last and rushed Tomara on the stage as the opening act. Well that night the best was the opening act, as Tomara’s performance launched the audience into a frenzy, where she became the headliner every Tuesday night at the same Venue. In June of 2009, her 8th grade class took a field trip to New York City, visiting many tourist attractions, one of which, was the World famous Apollo Theater in Harlem. The Theater was packed that night for “Amateur Night,” one of the long standing entertainment traditions in Harlem and the Apollo Theater. The director of the Apollo Theater invited Tomara to perform a song made popular by the late- great, Nina Simone entitled, “Turn Me Own.” Our band doesn’t know that song the Director stated. Tomara confidently responded by saying she would perform the song acapella, receiving a great applause from the audience for her outstanding performance. The Director was quoted as saying, “The last person to sing like that at your age on this stage was Ella Fitzgerald.” The Director sensed the Apollo audience wanted more of her vocal talents, and invited her back to the Apollo Theater in April 2010 for Amateur Night to perform in the children’s showcase. What a way to captivate national notoriety. Tomara has been performing in venues in the Denver Metro Area this year, where she now resides. She is comfortable performing Jazz Standards, Blues, and just about anything you put in front of her. As a spiritual Catholic, she will bless her recording career with a Gospel single to be released in February 2012. This song she feels has a lot of meaning in assisting runaway girls that will be demonstrated in her music video. Tomara recently auditioned for the Television Show, “America’s Got Talent.” Even though she is waiting for the call to perform, Tomara has arrived, with music of yesterday, today, and of course, Tomara. Tomara’s goals are to win a Grammy, an American Music Award, and live on Billboard Magazine’s top ten week after week. But her ultimate objective is to be able to give back to her fans throughout the world.
